OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS – Matt Metcalf was recently elected to the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Greater Kansas City (GKC) Post’s Board of Directors.
The mission of the GKC Post of SAME is to develop and enhance relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public and private sector AEC (architects, engineers, and constructors) industry-related professionals and the academic community. The membership for the GKC SAME Post is composed of over 600 individual members from over 100 sustaining member firms making it one of the largest professional networking organizations in the greater Kansas City marketplace.
As Director, Metcalf, along with his fellow Directors, will be responsible for leading collaboration between government and industry to develop solutions for national security infrastructure challenges within the Kansas City area, including facilitating meetings and activities to connect members from local government, military, private industry, and students to discuss and address these issues.

Metcalf has spent the better part of his career involved with SAME. He became a member in 2002 and was quickly nominated to the National Board of Directors where he held various positions between 2004-2007. Metcalf held the role of Vice President from 2011-2012 and was elected GKC Post President in 2013. Metcalf previously sat on the GKC Post’s Board of Directors from 2008-2010 and was named Fellow in 2013.
Metcalf’s role as Director is for one year and will begin in January 2026.
